Another Saturday Night

TVLand is doing an 80s movie weekend thing.

Now this may surprise some of you, but I am in fact a sucker for 80s movies. If it's got some kind of cheesy musical montage and big hair I am so there.

Last summer my intern has the audacity to suggest that nothing good came out of the 80's, pop culture wise. So I made him a list of every good thing I could think of. Dirty Dancing, Staying Alive, Footloose, all great, great movies in my book. Oddly enough he was less than convinced. Ah, the ignorance of youth.

So I watched Flashdance tonight, which I've already seen (talk about cheesy musical montages). And then Say Anything came on. I've never actually seen Say Anything, although I'm familiar with the boom box scene thanks to all the spoofs that exist.

First of all, John Cusack was fucking adorable when he was younger, which I wasn't expecting because lets face it, the man has some weird features.

Second of all, the scene at the Gas 'n Sip? Fucking brilliant. In fact, I was surprised by how clever the whole movie was. You know, considering it was preceded by Flashdance and all.

Good times.
