So I met with the head of graduate studies in my program this afternoon, a required session for incoming students.
He told me that I'm in the best position of all the first years, since I proactively found out what I needed to do to be prepared for the first semester and did it.
Also, he said I have solid test scores and if I keep it up and cultivate some good letters of recommendation I'll have no problem getting a pre-doctoral fellowship. As in, fat bank.
I am such an academic validation whore it's ridiculous. Probably the real reason I decided to go to graduate school.
