What I'm writing instead:

Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HPS) is the disease that is caused by hantavirus in the Americas (Nichol et al. 1993.) All of the hantaviruses known to cause HPS are associated with rodents belonging to the subfamily Sigmodontinae (see Table 3 in Mills 2006.) Because hantavirus is contracted through exposure to infected rodents, research on HPS and hantaviruses has often focused on the rodents who carry the disease (Suzuki et al. 2004, Childs et al. 1994, LeDuc et al. 1985.) This has yielded some indications of the importance of rodent ecology to the epidemiology of the disease (Mills 2006, Ruedas et al. 2004) as well as suggesting that there are still many research questions left to address, both about hantavirus and about host species.

and then i saw this and thought of you as well. although, posting two links that say nearly the same thing makes me feel creepy, like some sort of stalker. although the joy of using the emphasis tags (em) around the word me made me chuckle.

i've got to say, boing boing is a catalogue of useless things. to share with friends.
